KPMG in Romania Podcast Series

În cel de-al doilea webinar din seria dedicată e-raportărilor am parcurs declarația lunară SAF-T, trecând prin fiecare element obligatoriu al raportării și împărtășind din experiența noastră practică dobândită în toate implementările parcurse în ultimii ani.

În cadrul evenimentului de astăzi, am discutat cu reprezentanții ANAF despre modul în care datele raportate de contribuabili vor fi folosite de autorități pentru stabilirea riscului fiscal. De asemenea, am abordat o serie de neclarități ridicate de clienții noștri cu privire la SAF-T, e-Transport, e-Factura. Invitații noștri au prezentat și o serie de proiecte care sunt în desfășurare la nivelul autorităților fiscale (SPV, e-TVA, autentificare SPV, e-sigiliu). Seria evenimentelor dedicate acestui subiect continuă pe 11 martie 2025 cu aspecte aprofundate legate de declaraţia SAF-T.

Today, we are diving into KPMG’s 2024 Banking CEO Outlook, highlighting the views of top executives from the industry. The KPMG 2024 Banking CEO Outlook, compiled from the views of 120 banking and capital markets Chief Executive Officers representing a cross-section of financial institutions across five continents, is part of the 10th edition of the global CEO survey conducted by KPMG between 25 July and 29 August 2024. 

World military expenditure increased for the ninth consecutive year in 2023, reaching a total of 2,443 billion USD. The 6.8 per cent increase in 2023 was the steepest year-on-year rise since 2009 and pushed global spending to the highest level ever recorded. Total military expenditure accounted for 2.3 per cent of global gross domestic product in 2023. World military spending per person was the highest since 1990, at 306 USD. The rise in global military spending can be attributed primarily to the ongoing war in Ukraine as well as escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and Asia, while military expenditure went up in all five geographical regions. And this tendency will remain.Romania has steadily increased its defense budget, exceeding the 2% NATO threshold for the eighth consecutive year. In 2024, the defense budget was approximately €8.6 billion or 2.3% of GDP, much higher than in 2023. The defense budget structure reflects a growing interest in robust investments in military capabilities.

Un aspect esențial dezbătut a fost importanța respectării etapelor obligatorii din cadrul procedurilor, dar și motivele care pot sta la baza concedierilor.
De asemenea, au fost discutate rolul esențial al evaluării performanței individuale în procesul de selecție și importanța de a respecta criteriile de selecție pentru a evita posibile contestații.

The new Romanian Defense Industry Strategy 2024–2030 is widely seen as a major advance for the modernization and strengthening of the sector, but there are also several challenges and areas for improvement such as fiscal constraints, workforce development, sustainability and ethical standards.One of the primary challenges faced by the Romanian defense industry is its current status. The industry has been hindered by political inertia and internal divisions, which have limited its growth and modernization. The government anticipates that the industry will expand, creating more opportunities for collaboration with Western companies through joint ventures or supply chain partnerships.The expansion of the Romanian defense market has been hampered by budgetary constraints. While defense spending is increasing, there are challenges related to budget allocation and resource management. Ensuring that funds are efficiently used across various programs can be challenging. There are various challenges in terms of human resources, due to an aging population and migration, and it is hard to find specialists for certain operations. In a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape, collaboration among members of traditional and emerging alliances will be crucial in addressing growing threats. Key areas of focus include interconnected systems, innovation, and the necessary infrastructure investment for deploying military capabilities. We believe there is a balance to be struck between investing in conventional versus new capabilities. As a result, companies must navigate a dynamic security environment and be prepared to adapt swiftly to rapid changes.
